June 21, 2016

EUGENE – Oregon women’s tennis coach Alison Silverio announced the signing of Rifanty Kahfiani to a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday. Currently ranked No. 98 by the International Tennis Fedration, Kahfiani is the highest-ranked player Silverio has signed to the program in her two seasons as head coach.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Rifanty to our Oregon family,” Silverio said. “Rifanty is a major talent; however her work ethic, eagerness to develop, and desire to be a team player is what makes her exceptional. We believe in Rifanty’s abilities and know her confidence will permeate throughout our program. We have a solid nucleus of disciplined, resilient, hard-working players, and Rifanty  adds value to our foundation. Rifa is ready to earn her wings.”
A native of Indonesia, Kahfiani has been competing on the junior circuit since 2011 and has found much success in both singles and doubles.
Kahfiani had a strong showing at the 2016 Thamrin Cup International Junior Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia, picking up her second career junior singles title with a straight-set victory over YingYi Yang in the finals after reaching the finals in doubles with partner Samantha Nanere. Earlier this month, she appeared the both the singles and doubles finals of the AGS 5 International Junior Championships, also held in Jakarta.
In the last year, Kahfiani has tallied doubles titles at the Asian B1 ITF Pune Open Junior Tennis Championship, 26th and 27th Sarawak Chief Minister’s Cup ITF Junior Tennis Championships, LTAT ITF Junior Championships, and the China Junior 14 Nanjing Championship. She won both singles and doubles titles at the AGS 3 International Junior Champs in June 2015.
