June 16, 2016

One person was killed and a second was wounded Thursday in a shooting in Redondo Beach.

The shooting was reported about 4 p.m. at the intersection of Inglewood and Marine avenues, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department.

Eduardo Sanchez told NBC4 News that he heard about six gunshots.

“I heard the first gunshot,” he said. “It went off … boom! Then you hear, boom! boom! I armed myself and I ran out and went to go see what the commotion was about.”

Sanchez told the news station he  saw a young man on the ground at the Arco gas station who had been shot in the stomach.

Police said one person died  at the scene. The second person was taken to a hospital.

Police said the gunman fled and remains at large.  The fatal shooting remains under investigation.
