STARKVILLE, Miss. After racing in the Keystone State the last time out, the Mississippi State cross country teams return to SEC country to run in the Crimson Classic on Friday to close out the regular season.

Hosted by Alabama, this meet will be held at the Harry Prichett Running Park. The men’s 8,000-meter race is set to begin at 9 a.m. CT, with the women’s 6,000 meter starting at 9:45 a.m. CT.

“This is a course we are familiar with, and I feel that does make a difference,” MSU coach Houston Franks said. “This is a loaded field with a lot familiar teams, especially SEC teams. This will be a good test for us as we gear up for the SECs.”

A total of six conference teams will be running, including Alabama, Auburn, LSU, South Carolina and Texas A&M.

The 29th-ranked women are looking to win their third meet of the season. MSU is among 38 teams competing. On the men’s side, 33 teams are participating.

Earlier this year, the women won the Falcon Classic and the Golden Eagle Invitational, with Shannon Fair taking medalist honors at the Falcon Classic.

Next up for MSU is the SEC Championships on Oct. 27 at Georgia.
