Men's Golf Season Opener Cancelled

The Invitational at the Ocean Course that was scheduled to begin on Monday and open the Mississippi State men’s golf season has been cancelled, officials announced on Wednesday.

STARKVILLE, Miss. – With Hurricane Irma projected to impact the East Coast this weekend, The Invitational at the Ocean Course that was scheduled to begin on Monday and open the Mississippi State men’s golf season has been cancelled, College of Charleston officials announced on Wednesday.
 
The tournament was also scheduled to be the Bulldogs’ debut under first-year head coach Dusty Smith.
 
“Obviously, it is disappointing that we are not going to be able to compete next week because our guys have been dedicated and focused in their preparation,” Smith said. “However, we realize that what is going on in the Caribbean and the East Coast is a much more serious matter and our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who might be affected by this hurricane.”
 
Officials are looking at dates to reschedule the event.
 
The Bulldogs will now open the 2017-18 season Monday, Sept. 25, at the Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio.
