The NFL season is about to start, but college football already has Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh energized.
More specifically, Michigan and his brother, Jim.
Harbaugh revealed on the debut episode of “Attack Each Day: The Harbaugh’s Podcast,” joining Jim, father Jack and co-host and Harbaugh communications director J.T. Rogan on Thursday, that he watched the entirety of the Wolverines’ 33-17 win over the Florida Gators.
And suffice to say, he was impressed.
“As an outsider looking in, and just watching on TV, you talk about a team flying around,” John Harbaugh said. “A team playing physical and getting after it on both sides of the ball. I thought your offensive line mauled them up front. Your defense was just suffocating and flying.
“The effort. I mean, the effort getting to the ball. The discipline on the back end. It was really fun to watch.”
Harbaugh complimented Jim and Michigan for carrying a “business-like approach” into the game, the season opener for both teams. Florida suspended 10 players for the game, including its top receiver and top running back, and was starting a redshirt freshman at quarterback.
Still, No. 8 Michigan (1-0) had questions of its own, primarily regarding the amount of youth on both sides of the ball. How they responded impressed the NFL coach the most.
“You looked like a mature team, a business-like team,” Harbaugh told Jim. “There’s not a lot of trash talk. There wasn’t immaturity. You didn’t look like a bunch of guys out there who didn’t get it. You looked like a bunch of guys who looked like pros.”
