PORTLAND, Ore. – Caroline Inglis is officially in the field for the Cambia Portland Classic and will make her LPGA Tour debut this weekend after receiving a sponsor’s exemption from the Tournament Golf Foundation early on Monday morning.
The Portland Classic will be held at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland this weekend, June 30-July 3, with the best women professional players in the world scheduled to compete for a share of the $1.3 million purse and a chance to hold the historic Portland Classic Trophy.
Inglis was set to be one of 21 players competing for the final two spots in the tournament in the local qualifying round on Monday before getting a phone call around 6:30 a.m. informing her that she had received the exemption. Inglis turned professional after completing her four-year Oregon career this spring, and will compete representing Nike in its developmental tour program.
The Eugene native is the all-time Oregon leader with a scoring average of 72.21, and was at the forefront of the Ducks’ program-best fifth-place finish in the NCAA Championships last month, firing a Eugene Country Club-low score of 65 in the second round to fuel the Ducks’ run.
The first player in Oregon history to win the Pac-12 individual title in 2015, Inglis will be the first player from Oregon to compete in the Portland Classic since Cathryn Bristow in 2010.
