DETROIT – The Sound Mind Sound Body football camp brought some of the top coaches in the nation to Wayne State in Detroit on Friday.
Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh was there, as was Michigan State’s Mark Dantonio, Ohio State’s Urban Meyer and Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly, among others. Ohio State cornerbacks coach and special teams coordinator Kerry Coombs addressed defensive backs on the field at the start of the camp and didn’t mince words about why the Buckeyes were at Sound Mind Sound Body.
“What are we looking for here today? We’re looking for ballers. We’re looking for ballers,” Coombs said. “We’ve taken great players out of here.”
Coombs attributed Ohio State’s success to great cornerback play and brought Damon Webb, a junior cornerback from Detroit Cass Tech, in front of campers.
“Damon Webb is a guy from this city that came down and played for us,” Coombs said. “He’s going to be a great player at Ohio State. Why? Because he competes every day. We found him here – do you understand that? We found him here in these drills.”
