Max de Vroome grabs another round of Pac-12 All-Academic accolades as he wraps his USC career.
USC tennis has locked in on a strong set of academic honors for 2015-16, with three Trojans on the docket with Pac-12 All-Academic awards this season. Leading the way is Pac-12 All-Academic First Team selection Max de Vroome, a senior who now holds the highest academic selection of his career from the conference. On the women’s side, sophomore Gabby Smith has picked up a spot on the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team, with fellow sophomore Madison Westby having earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention.
A senior business administration major, Max de Vroome has completed his degree and his USC career in strong fashion, wielding a 3.54 GPA and finishing up as the No. 24 ranked singles player in the nation. This is his third Pac-12 All-Academic honor, and goes along with this year’s selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team. De Vroome earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention as a sophomore and was on the Second Team as a junior to set up this First Team upgrade in his senior season. De Vroome is the USC men’s program’s first Pac-12 All-Academic First Team honoree since Daniel Nguyen earned a spot on the team in 2012.
Gabby Smith and Madison Westby both were newly eligible for Pac-12 All-Academic honors as sophomores with the Women of Troy. An All-Academic Second Team selection, Smith claims a 3.60 GPA and has yet to declare her major. Westby, a communication major with a 3.42 GPA, has earned All-Academic Honorable Mention from the conference.
