On the same day Malik Jefferson was named to the college watch list, Longhorns’ commit Ayodele Adeoye was named to the high school Butkus Award watch list on Monday.

Adeoye is one of 50 players to make the list from 50 schools around the country.

The 6-foot, 231-pound linebacker spent the past three seasons at Ritenior in St. Louis, where he finished the 2016 season with 128 tackles and six sacks. However, he will spend his senior season at IMG Academy in Florida next year.

“I’m going to IMG to play against the best competition in high school football. Looking forward to competing for a national title and bettering my game for the next level,” Adeoye told 247Sports recently.

Texas has some recent history with the Butkus Award as well. Jefferson won the high school trophy in 2014 while at Mesquite and was named a semifinalist for the college award last season.
