BATON ROUGE — With the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional delayed more than 24 hours by rain, No. 3 seed Southeastern Louisiana eliminated No. 4 seed Utah Valley, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
Game 4 of the regional, a winner’s bracket game between No. 1 seed LSU and No. 2 seed Rice, is scheduled for 6:34 p.m. CT Sunday. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.com and broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network starting at 6 p.m. (Listen free at www.LSUsports.net/live).
Southeastern Louisiana (40-20) plated all three of its runs in the top of the first and limited Utah Valley to single runs in the third and fourth innings. The teams combined for eight hits in a contest that lasted on 2 hours, 27 minutes.
LSU won Game 1 of the four-team double-elimination regional, which was delayed more than six hours on Friday and pushing Game 2 to a soggy Saturday. Only seven innings of Game 2 was played Saturday before the rest of the day was washed out by non-stop thunderstorms.
On Sunday morning, Rice completed the final three innings of its 7-2 victory over Southeastern Louisiana, sending the Lions to the loser’s bracket. The Lions then eliminated Utah Valley in Game 3 that started at 2:45 p.m. CT.
Monday’s start times for Games 5 and 6 have not yet been determined. All games of the regional will be streamed on ESPN3.com – no over-the-air television is available.
