Seven Named Pac-12 All-Academic

EUGENE, Ore. – Seven Oregon softball players have been named Pac-12 all-academic, the conference announced on Friday.

Koral Costa and Cheridan Hawkins were named first team selections while Danica Mercado and Jenna Lilley were second team choices. 

Alyssa Gillespie, Janelle Lindvall anfd Gwen Svekis were each named honorable mention.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team’s games.

Costa and Hawkins are three-time first team choice, the most a player can be as first-year players (freshmen and transfers) are not eligible. Mercado was also a second team choice last season. Hawkins was named the Pac-12’s softball scholar-athlete of the year on Wednesday.  

Costa boasts a 3.71 GPA in cinema studies while Hawkins has a 3.82 GPA in family and human services. Mercado has a 3.51 GPA in sociology and psychology while Lilley has a 3.56 GPA in sociology.
