Senior running back Malcom Wesley rushed for 401 yards on 43 caries and scored four touchdown for Santa Ana Valley in a 29-25 loss to Northwood in a nonleague football game Thursday night at Santa Ana Valley High.

Wesley scored on first-half runs of 10, 51, 64 and 34 yards. He accumulated 303 yards on the ground by halftime to help the Falcons (0-4) build a 25-13 lead at the break.

“It was good game and a bad game for us,” said Wesley, who set a career-high for rushing in a game. “We’re all going to get on our defense after this one.”

The Timberwolves (1-3) snapped a seven-game losing streak.

The Orange County record for rushing yards in a game is 547, set by Laguna Beach’s Nathan Lancaster in 2013.
