ANN ARBOR — Jim Harbaugh has ruffled a few Rutgers feathers over the past few weeks.
The first came when Harbaugh was announced as the commencement speaker at Paramus Catholic High School in New Jersey, a Garden State powerhouse that’s produced Michigan star Jabrill Peppers and five-star signee Rashan Gary.
At the time, first-year Rutgers head coach Chris Ash explained how he wasn’t thrilled about Harbaugh getting the speaking gig — but he did respect the move, saying he wished he was doing it himself.
Then late last week, when word came down that Harbaugh and Michigan would be at a satellite camp at Paramus on June 8. Per NJ.com, Harbaugh and Paramus president Jim Vail were open to having Ash and his staff attend the camp alongside Michigan.
Ash, though, has other plans. Just down the road. On the same day. With Urban Meyer.
Ash’s camp with Meyer — his old boss at Ohio State — and Temple’s Matt Rhule will take place at Robert T. Shields Field in Madison, New Jersey. Which is about 30 miles away from Paramus.
Michigan signed five of New Jersey’s top 10 football recruits in 2016. Rutgers signed zero.
This, apparently, is part of Ash’s plan to alter that.
