Michigan’s next opponent, Purdue, knocks off Missouri and could be for real

Michigan opens up Big Ten play next week at Purdue, which defeated Missouri 35-3 on Saturday to improve 2-1.

The Boilermakers opened the season with a 35-28 loss to Louisville before downing Ohio 44-21 in Week 2.

On Saturday, Purdue jumped out to a 28-0 second-quarter lead while its defense held Missouri to 203 yards of total offense.

Sophomore running back Tario Fuller: 19 carries, 90 yards, one touchdown

— The Boilermakers forced three turnovers Saturday – two interceptions and a fumble.

— Nine different players carried the ball for Purdue, totaling 205 yards on 50 attempts.

— Twelve different players caught a pass for the Boilermakers, totaling 26 receptions for 272 yards.

— Purdue held Missouri to 2-for-11 on third down.
