IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Five must-reads before kickoff:

* Michigan spent the first two weeks prepping for traditional and spread-style offenses. Now they must turn a complete 180 in a week span to try and combat the tricky triple-option offense of Air Force.

* Aaron McMann is back with his Week 3 mailbag, touching on everything from Wilton Speight to whether Rashan Gary is living up to expectations. There’s also some Air Force talk in there, which groups have surprised (good and bad) and plenty more.

* While everyone is eager to see how Michigan’s defense handles the Air Force run game, it should be smooth sailing for the Wolverines’ offense. A combination of undersized defensive lineman and inexperience in the secondary could help make for a big day for Michigan. We take a position-by-position look at teach team, and offered up a prediction.

* You won’t see offensive lineman Grant Newsome on the field anytime soon, but you may be able to spot him on the sidelines. The junior is busy rehabbing his knee after a freak accident last fall, but he’s taken on a new job as a student-coach, McMann writes.

* It wasn’t just Wilton Speight — Michigan’s offense was sloppy last week, from unnecessary penalties to communication breakdowns in the huddle. The Wolverines spent the week trying to clean all that up, and they think they have.
