ANN ARBOR — One of Michigan’s top athletic department administrators has a new home.
Chrissi Rawak, an executive associate athletic director at Michigan, was formally announced as the University of Deleware’s new athletic director Friday.
Rawak — whose final title at Michigan included Chief External Relations and Design Officer — was brought into the athletic department as a senior associate AD by former athletic director Dave Brandon in 2011.
She served on Jim Hackett’s leadership team during his tenure as interim AD, assisting him in both Jim Harbaugh’s coaching search and Michigan’s contract negotiations with Nike.
A former varsity swimmer — and eventually an assistant swim coach — at Michigan, Rawak also worked in the university’s development and alumni relations offices for more than decade before joining Brandon’s staff.
She had been one of five senior level executives on new athletic director Warde Manuel’s staff, joining Elizabeth Heinrich (Chief Student Development/Compliance), Rob Rademacher (COO), Bitsy Ritt (Chief Sports Administrator), Doug Gnodtke (Chief of Staff) and Darryl Conway (Health and Welfare).
“I am truly honored and humbled for the opportunity to join the Delaware family,” Rawak said in a release. “And I am grateful for the trust that President Assanis has in me and in my abilities to lead this department. The University is a world-class institution with a community with a clear passion and pride for athletics and for the state of Delaware. My family and I cannot wait to become Blue Hens.”
