Lingering back injury keeps past champ Rose out of Memorial

May 30, 2016

Justin Rose has withdrawn from this week’s Memorial Tournament, citing a lingering back injury.

Rose hasn’t competed since a tie for 19th at The Players Championship and skipped last week’s BMW PGA Championship, the European Tour’s flagship event, which he considers a “home tournament.”

Rose won the Memorial Tournament in 2010 for his first PGA Tour title. He finished runner-up last year, losing in a playoff to David Lingmerth.

Next week’s PGA Tour stop is the FedEx St. Jude Classic, followed by the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club. Rose won the 2013 Open at Merion.
