ANN ARBOR – Michigan was named a finalist for another one of the top 2017 recruits in the nation.
Jordan Anthony, a four-star linebacker/running back from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., tweeted a video of his top 10 schools on Friday night and listed Michigan, Maryland, Oklahoma, Clemson, LSU, Penn State, Georgia, Ohio State, UCLA and Auburn. Anthony, 6-foot-0 and 200 pounds, is listed as the No. 9 outside linebacker and No. 117 player overall in the 2017 class by the 247 Sports Composite rankings.
Anthony spent two years at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Md., before transferring to IMG. He has 24 offers and took an unofficial visit to Michigan in April for the spring game, along with IMG teammates.
“The spring game atmosphere was hot,” Anthony told 247 Sports in April. “They introduced the 2016 signees during halftime, I liked that a lot. Everything there was just first class.”
Anthony earned an invitation to the Nike The Opening Finals due to his performance at a regional event in Davenport, Fla., on Feb. 21. He posted a 40-yard dash time of 4.84, a 4.30 in the 20-yard agility shuttle, a kneeling powerball toss of 40.5 feet and a 35.8-inch vertical.
Michigan, which held a week of spring practice at IMG, is also pursuing IMG’s Dylan Moses, a five-star linebacker, Robert Hainsey, a four-star guard, and Cesar Ruiz, a four-star center.
