IOWA CITY, IOWA — Former Hawkeyes Amy Ihm (women’s golf) and Drew Ott (football) have been selected as Iowa’s 2016 Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners. The duo was chosen from Iowa’s 2015-16 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winners, which had a representative from each varsity sport.

Ihm, a native of Peosta, Iowa, earned second team All-Big Ten honors and a bid to the 2016 NCAA Bryan Regional. She led the Hawkeyes with seven top-10 finishes in 10 tournaments last season, and is the second individual golfer in program history to qualify for NCAA postseason competition. Ihm paced the Hawkeyes at the Big Ten Championship on April 24, carding 41 bogey-free holes to close the tournament and tie for fourth place overall. Her efforts earned her a spot on the Big Ten All-Championship Team and solidified her NCAA Regional berth. She set the program records for individual 54-hole performance (-5; 211), individual 36-hole performance (-6; 138), and individual 18-hole performance (-4; 68). In her senior campaign, she registered a 73.1 stroke average — the lowest season average in program history by 3.2 strokes.

Ott, a native of Trumbull, Nebraska, had his senior season cut short after six games due to injury, but remained one of the team leaders. He was selected as one of five permanent team captains and named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society at the conclusion of the 2015 season. Ott, tied for second on the team in tackles for loss (7.5). He played in 46 games as a Hawkeye, starting 29, at defensive end. He was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team.

The Big Ten first awarded the Outstanding Sportsmanship honor in 2003. The student-athletes choses were individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior, were in good academic standing and demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
