Coach Randy Shannon announced that Feleipe Franks will make his seventh start of the season against the Blazers.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida’s depth chart has few changes as the Gators prepare for their first home game in nearly a month, against the UAB Blazers.
Coach Randy Shannon announced during his Monday press conference that starting center T.J. McCoy would miss the remainder of the season due to injury.
McCoy’s injury will cause a slight shuffle on the offensive line. Versatile junior Tyler Jordan is expected to start at center, with Kavaris Harkless manning the left guard spot. Antonio Riles will also see time at either guard position. Backing up tackles Martez Ivey and Jawaan Taylor will be redshirt freshman Stone Forsythe.
Shannon also announced on Monday that Feleipe Franks will return as UF’s starting quarterback Saturday, after Malik Zaire suffered an injury at South Carolina. Franks has thrown for over 1,100 yards and five touchdowns in nine games this season.
Look for athletes Dre Massey or Kadarius Toney to serve as Franks’ backup against UAB if Zaire is unable to play.
Florida will continue rely on sophomore Lamical Perine, redshirt senior Mark Thompson and rookie Adarius Lemons to carry the load in the backfield.
UF’s defense remains unchanged from a week ago.
On the special teams front, Freddie Swain and Dre Massey will get opportunities as Florida’s punt returner along with incumbent Brandon Powell.
