Gators Add Lee to 2017 Recruiting Class

Won Jun Lee becomes fifth member of 2017 class.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After adding four players in November, fourth-year coach J.C. Deacon announced the signing of Won Jun Lee to the 2017 class, Saturday. Lee will join the Gators for the start of the 2017-18 season.

“We are so fortunate to add Won Jun to our already talented roster,” Coach Deacon said. “Won Jun at times has dominated the junior game. He brings an extremely consistent golf game to Gainesville and has had some great success in USGA match-play tournaments. He has the ability to help take our team to another level. We couldn’t be more excited to get the year going.”

On the course, Lee currently ranks 10th on the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior list and sits in the 12th spot in the AJGA’s boys rankings. He also has been named a Rolex/AJGA All-American in 2015 and 2016.

He is set to compete in the U.S. Amateur Championship at Riviera Country Club this week.

Lee recently competed at the 2017 U.S. Junior Amateur at Flint Hills National Golf Club in Andover, Kansas where he advanced to the round of 32.

In 2015, Lee advanced to the quarterfinal round of the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship while making the semifinal round in 2016.

The Seoul, South Korea native has spent the past few years living in Wesley Chapel, Fla. while attending Saddlebrook Prep.
