Florida running back ready to ‘beat the brakes off Michigan’

July 17, 2017

The start of the college football season is still more than six weeks away, but one Florida player is already looking forward to Michigan.

Gators senior running back Mark Thompson took to Twitter on Monday to vent his frustration over a perceived “disrespect” aimed at Florida.

It’s not clear who or what disrespected him, but he’s apparently licking his chops when it comes to Florida’s game against Michigan Sept. 2 in Texas.

“The disrespect is crazy …,” Thompson tweeted Monday afternoon. “I can’t wait till we beat the brakes off Michigan.”

The 6-foot-2, 237-pound Thompson, considered second or third on Florida’s depth chart at running back, accumulated 299 yards rushing and three touchdowns last season.

Florida, coming off a 9-4 season in 2016 and Outback Bowl win over Iowa, is predicted to finish second in the SEC East.

Michigan went 10-3 and lost to Florida State in the Orange Bowl. A preseason Big Ten poll will be released next week during the league’s two-day media event in Chicago.
