EUGENE, Ore. – The NCAA Track and Field West Preliminary fields were announced on Thursday, and the Ducks will have 58 entries into NCAA competition, beginning with the west regional meet in Lawrence, Kan., May 26-28.
The Oregon men already have two entries to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, June 8-11, with Mitch Modin and Joe Delgado posting top-24 decathlon scores. The Ducks will have an additional 26 men’s entries to the regional meet, for the fifth-highest total among NCAA teams. The women’s team will have 32 entries into the NCAA Prelims, second most in the country this year.
The UO men will be represented in 16 regional events with a team high four entries into the 1,500. The women will also take part in 16 events with five competitors in the 100.
Athletes who rank among the top 48 in their respective event earn berths into the NCAA West Preliminary Round. The best 24 relay times also advanced to NCAA prelims. Athletes with the top 12 times/marks and the best 12 relay teams at both the East and West prelims will qualify for the NCAA Championships.
