The questions about the health of BYU junior quarterback and captain Tanner Mangum appear to have been answered when he exited the bus at the stadium.

Mangum was in a boot and rolling along on a scooter commonly used to prevent pressure on leg injuries, making it apparent that he will not be available to participate in Saturday’s game against No. 10 Wisconsin at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

The responsibility for the Cougar offense now settles on the shoulders of sophomore Beau Hoge, who is more mobile but has little game experience.

He will likely be backed up by sophomore Koy Detmer, Jr.

Should those two go down, BYU would then be faced with the option of playing freshmen Joe Critchlow or maybe moving sophomore athlete Austin Kafentzis from running back to quarterback.
