IRVING, Texas – Former Alabama running back Bobby Humphrey and former Tide linebacker E.J. Junior are among 75 players and six coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision placed on the 2017 College Football Hall of Fame Ballot, the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Football Hall of Fame announced today.

Humphrey finished his standout career at the Capstone as the Crimson Tide’s all-time leader in all-purpose yards with 4,958 while adding 40 total touchdowns. An All-America selection in 1986, Humphrey set what was then the Alabama single-season rushing mark with 1,471 yards. He followed up his sophomore campaign with a 1987 season that saw him claim UPI Offensive Player of the Year honors as well as another All-America nod.

The SEC Defensive Player of the Year as a senior in 1980, Junior earned consensus All-America honors and was a Lombardi Award finalist in his final campaign for the Tide. A member of Bear Bryant’s final two national championship squads, Junior ended his career with 39.0 tackles for loss, which was the Alabama career record at that time.

To be eligible for the ballot, players must have been named a First Team All-American by a major/national selector as recognized and utilized by the NCAA for their consensus All-America teams, played their last year of intercollegiate football at least 10 years prior, played within the last 50 years and cannot currently be playing professional football.

The announcement of the 2017 Class will be made Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, in Tampa, Fla. The city is serving as the host for the CFP National Championship, which will be played Jan. 9 at Raymond James Stadium. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place during the 60th NFF Annual Awards Dinner in New City at the Waldorf Astoria. The 2017 class will be inducted on Dec. 5, 2017.
