David Oppenheim earns first career All-America honors.
LOS ANGELES – USC senior outfielder/designated hitter David Oppenheim earned Baseball America Third Team All-America honors, the outlet announced Tuesday.
Oppenheim (Mercer Island, Wash./College of the Canyons) earned the Pac-12 Batting Title and First Team All-Pac-12 honors in 2016 with an impressive .387 batting average over 53 games played. He drove in 25 runs, tallied nine double and four home runs, mostly hitting out of the two hole. He became the first Trojan to win a Pac-12 batting title since Geoff Jenkins in 1995 and just the fourth overall.
The All-America honor is the first of Oppenheim’s career and makes him the 88th Trojan to earn an All-America honors. Last year catcher Garrett Stubbs earned first team All-America honors from Baseball America
