ANN ARBOR – Michigan doesn’t have a wide receiver committed to its 2017 class yet but is in the running for one of the top prospects in the nation.
Nico Collins, a four-star receiver from Clay-Chalkville High School in Pinson, Ala., released a top seven Friday night that included Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, Florida State, LSU and Ole Miss.
At 6-foot-5 and 195 pounds, Collins is the No. 11 receiver and No. 79 player overall in the 2017 class, according to 247 Sports. He holds 20 offers and visited Michigan in May, which led to him putting Michigan at the top of his list.
“Right now, Michigan has caught my eye,” Collins told 247 Sports. “I fell in love with them on my visit. They might be my leader – with Georgia, Alabama, and Clemson pushing them. There is just something more with Michigan – they have a plan for you after college – plus their football program is pretty nice.”
Collins had 60 catches for 1,103 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. He also earned an invitation to the Nike The Opening Finals July 5-10 in Beaverton, Ore.
